its a general game mechanic, it works against any critical strikes in pve,
pvp magical and physical (although spells from mobs in general do not crit
with the exeption of such enchanted elemental damgetypes that hydross does,
but these attacks although elemental count as physical attacks)

same with critchance reduction from defence (which only works against
physical critical strikes)
