Before endgame, I never had to worry about honor. I always had a surplus of
honor, and a shortage of marks, so most of my time was spent farming marks.
However, since reaching 70, I am quickly finding the opposite is true. Marks
are coming fairly easily (at least AV marks), but when items are costing
11,000 honor or more, it seems like it's going to take forever to get
that....
Am I missing anything? What is the quickest BG to farm honor in? Seems like
AV used to be pretty good, but maybe not so much anymore after the changes.

I'm starting to dislike AV after the changes as it's become a place where
you can only farm honor without pvp (in my battlegroup). Last night I did AV
from 20,00 till 24,00, win/loss was around 50% and the typical duration was
11 min. Basically you need to choose what to do at start (galv + 1 tower or
go to FW..) because games are so short that by the time you get to 1 tower,
cap it and wait 4 min AV is almost over. Both sides cap everything there is
to cap and then stand in front of the boss and wait for the towers to burn
to charge the boss.
There were 1-2 games where horde defended and it's the only game where I
actually pvped in AV yesterday.
The honor varied from 270 for a loss and 500 for a win.
btw why do you dislike AV after the changes? >> Stay informed about: farming honor in BGs |

I think your answer depends on a few things, such as what faction you
are and what battlegroup you're in.
In my battlegroup, Horde cannot win AV since the changes. I tried to
do the AV daily recently, and it took almost 3 straight hours to win
one AV. This when, before the changes, we would win about 70% of the
time. Not to mention that we hardly ever complete any objectives, so
after 30 minutes, we walk away with hardly any honour.
From what I read on the forums, in almost every other battlegroup,
Horde wins AV to the point that Alliance have stopped queuing (if you
believe the Forums).
On the other hand, in AB and EotS, Horde wins pretty much every game
in my battlegroup.
So it might be a matter of trying a few of each BG to see which ones
your faction and battlegroup is good at and, of course, which one you
enjoy the most.

Don't forget to do the daily BG, good bonus honor there. Seems like
most ppl still feel AV is best honor overall. I do whatever seems fun
at the moment so it doesn't feel like a chore. But certainly I've
concentrated on the weekend's special BG. Since the middle of
December I got 8 new pieces of Mooncloth & Salvation gear plus a new
mount (just to spend the marks that were piled up in my mailbox.)
Of course that includes some extended* holiday weekend play but
still... best gear-upgrade-to-playtime ratio I've seen since first
coming to Outlands.
* Ok I admit it, I shunned the in-laws in favor of WoW for the
holidays! >> Stay informed about: farming honor in BGs |

AV is still the best BG for honor, at least for Alliance in my
battlegroup. 11k honor is not *that* much when it's AV holiday
weekend. I have even made that much on a "normal" day, but then
it's more like a job than fun.

I think early in the development of EotS it was intended as an Aldor
vs Scryer BG with mixed horde and alliance teams. However the
execution was difficult to implement, and they abandoned it.
EotS feels like a throw in to me...no real-world location, not real
significance to the territory/objectives of the BG, and similar
mechanics to AB. >> Stay informed about: farming honor in BGs |

in the BG i'm in, Horde still win about 75% of AV's. about half of AB
and EOTS and maybe 1/4 of WSG. (it takes them 45+ minutes to lose
tho... :-/ )
I'm only doing WSG because I need 15 more marks for S1 Pants for my
shaman. I can epic him out with Epic crafted melee peices with some
farming. >> Stay informed about: farming honor in BGs |

For me, I've personally renamed AV to AR, for "Alterac Race"
This is because the battleground now consists of a race to see who can get to
the opposing general quicker. This has good and bad sides. On the good side,
you no longer enter a two hour turtle where the unstoppable horde meets the
unmovable alliance. On the negative side, the BG hardly even qualifies as PVP
as there are often times when I never see a horde player. Opposing offense
simply moves past one another in midfield on their way to the generals.
If you play defense, then maybe you get some PVP action serving as a spoiler
to slow down the enemy. I've only played defense once, when I aggro'd galv
and respawned back at the beginning.
The reinforcement countdown was a good idea (every BG needs a way to break
stalemates), but the other changes I think were unnecessary. The only BG
without some kind of a countdown is WSG, and that is the one that I still
really dread, and actually refuse to play.

That's a good idea. Heck, I'd take any general timer. I like WSG,
the map and play style, but I only go there when it's the daily or I
specifically need those marks due to the likelyhood of a long game.
'Tis a shame. I was in a game that lasted so long, I took a
screenshot cuz I had 548,168 Healing Done. Even in an hour long game
that's stuck in stalemate, I can't bring myself to quit. >> Stay informed about: farming honor in BGs |

Warsong Gulch plays like a bad shareware capture-the-flag Doom map
circa 1994. There's no game breaker or timer, and with fast respawns
it allows the losing team to perpetuate the map indefinitely with no
purpose. The honour given is poor for the effort input to complete a
game too.
I only run WSG when absolutely necessary -- a) the daily BG quest
compensates with extra honour, or b) I need WSG tokens.
Even then, I queue up in AV and AB too, in case I want to escape
without a deserter debuff. The most frustrating games are when we're
up 2-0, and the opposing team decides to focus 100% on defense so they
don't lose. >> Stay informed about: farming honor in BGs |

They need to have a timer on the flags, if both flags are in enemy

I've found the same on my server. In order to farm 20 AB marks, I won 1 game,
and lost 17. So that's a 17:1 ratio. Originally EOTS was a similar disaster,
but in the last couple days, I've been winning them at a 50:50 rate. AV is
pretty close to 50:50 and WSG I simply won't play because of the persistent

Although this invalidates one of the essential premises of the game, I think
something that would be interesting would be a mixed BG - teams made randomly
from horde and alliance. This would eliminate the "Horde Always Wins"
phenomenon on most servers.

Agreed so much, I didn't mind WSG in 10-19 when it was my first real BG
experience, but now I've learned the others I can't stand the place, only
go there if I really need the marks, and spending an hour or longer to get

Blackout EU has the interesting case where Horde win 80-90% of games in
51-60, but Alliance win 80-90% in 61-70... with totally different styles
and tactics, too.
>On the other hand, in AB and EotS, Horde wins pretty much every game

Horde seem to dominate those here as well, I tried the AB daily quest on my
alliance lock one day, gave up after 4 losses in a row, most of which were
4-5 base games.
