I think you're Alliance, which is a shame, because the absolute best
place I have found to mine Thorium and Mithril is the cave just to the
left of the entrance to the Blasted Lands from the Swamp of Sorrows
called the Garrison Armory.
It's filled with lvl 46-48 Ally-friendly folk who are hostile to
Horde. This also means that only Horde characters can mine the veins
there (Ally can see them, but can't mine them).
I'm a packrat, so when I was mining Thorium there for the Imperial
Plate recipes, I saved all the Mithril I mined and sent it to a bank
alt. I'm not having much luck selling Fel Iron and Adamantite, so one
day last week I decided to try finally selling some of this Mithril
that I'd had for months. I had about 20 stacks of 20, which I put up
for 10 gold each. They all sold within an hour.
I haven't tried to sell Thorium yet, but I think I will hit up that
Garrison place and just walk around and mine. It's slow since you
can't mount, but at lvl 70 my Paladin can walk around pretty much
unbothered, and the veins respawn fairly quickly, so I just walk to
the end of the place, climb the railroad tracks back to the entrance,
and start again. Plus you can also mine gems from these veins that
sell as well.
