Hello all.

I've been wondering, what is everyone's impression on, "When can you
say a boss is on farm?"

Ive seen a number of people say that once you've killed it 3 times
then it's on farm status. I've seen others who say once you've killed
it first go, it's on farm.

I know there is no benefit from the status "on farm" but just curious.

What are people's thoughts?

Cheers

About 3rd kill with no wipes we consider it farmed.

That sounds a good benchmark.

I did have a go at describing it to another guildie.

I said, "I would consider a boss on farm when, before the event I have
a very high degree of confidence that we would down the boss with
minimal fuss."

However that is very vague and unquantifiable. 3rd kill with no wipes
is easy to define and easilly quantifiable.

thx

In our guild boss is on farm status when we don't wipe on him anymore.
So after initial wipe nights and first kill, other time we come and take him
from first try, he's on farm.

If a raid member is AFK and you know you can pull the boss and kill him
anyway with a man short. Then he's on farm Smile

When you start bringing level 68s into kara to help them get free XP and
epics they can't use yet, then kara is on farm...

When you can do shade of aran without having to explain flame wreath, and yet
nobody in the raid sets it off, shade is on farm...

Seriously though, it's hard to measure because it depends on your raid
makeup. A guild might have a 10-man group that can easily clear a raid, but
if you mix in a few nonoptimal people it can turn into a mess ("why are you
running during flame wreath!!!! nooooo!!! kabooom!!!!")

So in other words, he's on farm when he always buys it Wink

Like others, 3rd kill with no wipes is the metric we use. That said,
there will ALWAYS be a fluke now and then that will cause you to wipe
on a boss that's been on "farm" for weeks/months. Hell after clearing
Kara for months my old guild took some newer people into there, and
actually wiped (once) on Chess. First (and only) time we ever did
that (well, I say "we" as a guild - I wasn't actually on that run).
Same with a boss like Gruul. We had him down to where we were one-
shotting him every time for over a month, then we'd have a rought
night where it took 4-5 tries to get him down. Weird stuff
happens Smile.

Yeah, any raid can have a bad day. It just takes one healer to have a
lagspike and one of your tanks is dead. When you're new to Kara, you
need three healers. When it's on farm, you can reduce that to two and
crank up the dps. When you only have two healers, they both have to be
wide awake and paying attention 100% of the time.
