Farming is basically any repetitious action. Killing the same mobs
over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over
and over again to "farm" motes of life for example.\

I think you missed something here. The onions, potatoes and carrots are
what you take out of the ground and sell. You put the seeds in the ground. >> Stay informed about: Noob question ... farming? |

Except for potatoes. You plant chunks of potatoes with eyes. And onions,
most of the time. You plant onion sets, mostly--at least in
gardens--instead of seeds.
But carrots are seed all the way.

Ah, you can see, I'm no farmer. I buy my stuff at the AH ... I mean at
the supermarket. >> Stay informed about: Noob question ... farming? |

Speaking of farming. I have been farming Sporregar rep with my Druid
the last few days to get the alchemy recipes. I've come to the
conclusion that I may not be cut out for end-game content because I'm
getting very bored of it and I'm only 1/2 way through honoured. This
is my first ever rep grind and, as the end game relies heavily on rep,
it's not looking good.

P.S. I *really* hope that the epic flight form quest is not rep

Following up to arizona willie :

As Ashen said it's that'S repetitive killing of mobs that you don't need
for a quest, in order to collect certain items - either just money, or
useful items for your professions such as linen cloth from the Defias in
Westfall, or leather from the gorillas in Stranglethorn Vale, herbs or
mining.
It can be pretty repetitive, but I think most people do it solo as the
things you farm are normally on mobs that are relatively easy to kill (it's
normally a case of going back to places you've been before), and it's a
good chance to practice using some techniques/abilities/spells that you
wouldn't use in a serious fight, or those you're not quite sure how to use
properly.

I dunno from nasty. It can be fun and hilarious. Its all about the
company and the place. You haven't had a good laugh until you've
farmed furbolg for beads, or in outland, zaxxis tokens from ethereals
with a full party including a manic tank-priest (shadow of course) who
tags 4, 5, 6 mobs and then dances with them while various mages,
warlocks and the rest of us rain dps on the clustered mobs. Its a
stitch, and wouldn't do in most Instances, but in open terrain with a
fun group, whee!
Of course, not everyone is lucky enough to have a tank-priest in their
guild. Or a tank-mage, or a tank-rogue. Sometimes things get too
darned serious and you just have to bust out and have fun, whether you
are farming or whatever.

The Sporeggar repgrind is insanely boring, others are a bit better
thankfully, especially those that rely on instances. I only have Sporeggar
revered on one character, which I basically did because the friend I was
duoing with at the time was an alchemist and wanted exalted - I got to
revered, took the wand, and left him to solo the rest, as I frankly never
wanted to see another naga
