*just a note to clear things out.. I am not a gold buyer ^_^*

Greetins all,

With the launch of the previous patch I noticed that there is a third
window for the user agreement. It clearly stated by Blizzard that gold
buying and powerleveling can lead to a permanent ban without a
warning.

That is actually good news to eliminate this sort of cheating..

But

Did they actually caught and ban gold buyers?. I heared that there
were some players who got banned but didn't actually hear it on my
realm (Grim Batol Eu. Alliance)

If yes than it is both good news and bad news.

Good news as said because there will be much less cheating in the game

bad news because the famous overcrowded farming spots will now be even
more crowded since those who were not caught will have to farm to
avoid being banned.

So can anyone confirm it... Did they ban gold buyers. noting that
Blizzard was a little easy on gold buyers before the previous patch

Interestingly the farming spots have been a whole lot *less* crowded of
late, I think a few goldfarmers must've got banned, as I can now actually
get onto the elemental plateau at times - never used to be able to get any
farming done there, since about 3-4 weeks after TBC launch it was crowded
as heck at all times of day/night, now it's sometimes empty.

Not that I'm aware of, there's not been any bans I've heard of on my server
anyway, and there's a few people who I suspect of buying gold (sadly
including some of my own guildmates, one even admitted to it, although some
time in the past, don't think he has again). Hope they do start banning
them though, in my opinion it's nothing short of cheating, so all to the
good if they learn not to do it. Maybe not permanent ban for a first
offense but at least a few weeks to give them something to think about.

The Terms of Service has always had that in it. The "new" window you've seen
is simply a condensed version of the other two, because they know most
people don't bother reading the longer ones.

Only place I actively noticed bots farming were in the 50-60 areas,
Jadefire Run, over in Azshara, Runecloth, Felcloth... I complained to
a GM back then and nothing happened. I passed by a month later and the
same characters were botting there....

I guess its often because they had level 60 characters which needed to
be levelled to 70 in order to farm that stuff, that and it was much
less hassle and not that much less money to do the Runecloth/Felcloth
farming.

When I passed through the same areas in the last couple of days on new
alt which I'm taking to 60 without the 2.3 xp boost, there wasn't any
bots at all...

So I think they've kicked a few here and there...

When is the last time anyone saw a definite bot in game? I've been levelling
a druid recently. Been through all the old hot-spots (turtles in hillsbrad,
anyone?) and I haven't seen one...

Yes - you hear about it on the forums all the time. It's less common in the
EU realms I hear though. *

Oddly, quite a while. Spam and bots have disappeared from emerald dream,
and I don't see much in the way of non-player farmers either. *

I was mining in Burning Steppes all last night trying to skill up
jewelcrafting on my horde priest (jeez it's painful to skill up even after
they improved the mats needed...) and didn't see a single bot; the place
used to be full of them. Unfortunately it had a downside, in that I now
realise just how many spawns there were of those damn wandering drakes -
the bots used to keep them down so it was a lot safer to ride around
looking for veins Razz

Well, I did actually see one character mining who while I think it was
human (one time when it saw me it stopped for a sec, and it wasn't
following obviously set patterns), armorying it revealed it had been
powerlevelled or botted - was wearing all boes and hadn't even got honoured
with any of its city factions... it was neutral with every other faction
except timbermaw, who it was hated with, so had clearly spent some time
farming Azshara.

Not sure if it was a bot or "just" a power-leveler at work, but I did
bump into a hunter that was after the turtles on the Hinterlands coast
24/7 during the period my last character leveled through there.
Haven't been back to check.

The farmers of old are seemingly dead, thankfully, though the
powerlevelers seem to have an endless supply of level 1 characters to
spam invites at low-level characters (I join, let them spam me, and
then report them and leave).

How long ago was that? I saw them up until about 6-8 weeks ago, I think.

I've never heard of anyone being banned for purchasing gold. However
I have heard of several folks banned for purchasing power leveling
services. In general power levelers use a combination of botting and
hacks in order to throw on the levels so fast, as a result many an
account gets banned in the process of being leveled up. For the same
reasons the accounts that actually do the farming of gold often get
banned because they are either bot networks, or are using a wow hack/
exploit in order to increase profitability.

Also since the transaction doesn't occur in game its really hard to
pin down how someone received a mysterious amount of gold in the
mailbox, and that it was in fact tied to a gold purchase.

I play on a few servers (four regularly, all RP-PvP) and it seems I am
getting at least 2-3 'group invites' per evening. Like you (or
someone else mentioned it), I just leave the invite on-screen until it
times out, hoping that it is providing some irritant to the spambot
inviter.

But how does one report this these? Right-clicking on their name
doesn't give me the 'report' option, and the 'longer' method is
somewhat of a nuisance. And 'quick report' tips or tricks available?

What if lvl 5 or less were not able to issue 'group invites'. Seems
like a small penalty to pay to get rid of these idiots. Or if they
were only 'trial accounts',then restrict the trial accounts from
issuing invites.

it is unlikely that Blizzard has done anything to actual buyers.

Why? Too many people in guilds like Nihilum, Death and Taxes, and Rage
(read: super-raiders). Never mind the goofs in the guilds run by the
developers.

what they're doing is trying to intercept gold sent to buyers from the
farmers. The change in the TOS is simply a fear tactic to keep people
quiet.

In summary, worry about what you do in the game, not what other people
are doing.
